Groups choose who gets the text
A contact group is a fixed list of up to 5,000 people. It is the audience picker in Text Blaster. Tags and filters do not take its place.
A group is a saved list you can send a campaign to. It changes only when someone adds or removes contacts: you, an import, or a tool such as No replies. It is not a live filter. Contacts, Groups is where you make one. Only the name is required, and names have to be unique. A customer folder, description, and color are optional. Folders are how you keep several clients or locations from collapsing into one long list.
Three ways to fill it
From All Contacts, tick people and choose Add to group. Select all matching takes everyone who fits the current search and filters, up to 5,000 at a time. Create new group makes the list from that selection in one step. You can also add a single person from the row menu or the profile.
Open a group card and the Add tab searches contacts or uploads a file straight into the group. Adding from search saves up to 500 contacts at a time. The upload accepts CSV or XLSX under 10 MB. A capacity bar shows how close you are to 5,000. Remove from group takes people off the list and leaves them in your contacts.
When a group fills up, extra contacts spill into a new numbered group, such as a second "Open House RSVPs". Select both when you send, or the extra people never get the text.
The blast reads the groups you own
In Text Blaster, Select contact groups shows each list's size and how many times you have blasted it. The panel then shows potential recipients and how many DNC contacts were removed. Round-robin setup uses groups the same way. Upload leads and a new group name are both available in that dropdown if you are not ready yet.
No replies, also in Recipients, builds a group from people who were texted before and never answered. Replies, DNC, failed, and unsubscribed numbers are left out. The new group lands in the No replies folder and is selected as the audience. It is a snapshot. A reply that arrives later does not remove anyone from it.
Cleanup does not delete people
On the Groups tab you can move several cards into a folder, export their contacts to CSV, or delete the groups. Deleting a group never deletes the contacts. Folder, Sort, and Times Contacted filters find lists quickly.
One limit that surprises teams: the Groups tab lists the groups you created, and a Text Blaster send goes to contacts in groups you own. Teammates build their own.
The click-by-click version lives in the Contact Groups guide.
