Where the team talks about a thread
Team Chat is the internal room, not the customer inbox. Mentions, shared contacts, SMS threads, and reports stay with the people who need the context.
Team Chat is for coworkers. The Messages inbox is for customers. Mixing those up is how a note about a lead ends up in the customer's thread. Team Chat sits in the main menu, and everyone in the workspace can open it. Viewers can read and, by default, cannot post. Owners change that on the Permissions tab.
Three kinds of rooms
New room offers Direct, Group, and Channel. A direct message is private with one teammate. If you already have one, Statxt opens it instead of making a second. A group needs a plain name, such as Front Desk Team. A channel name is lowercased with dashes and shown with a hash, which suits an ongoing topic such as a promotion or a location. Add at least one teammate. You can add more later.
Unread rooms show a red count. The list filters into All, Direct, Groups, and Channels. Tabs across the top are Chat, Reports, Pull, and Permissions, and you only see the tabs your access allows.
The message itself is ordinary chat
Enter sends. Shift+Enter breaks a line. Type @ to mention someone in the room. They get a notification. The paperclip takes images, PDFs, Word, Excel, or text files, up to 50 MB, and you can paste an image. Hover a message to react, reply, or copy it. You can edit or delete your own messages. Edited ones are marked.
Commands, or typing /, are grouped into Insights, Contacts, Team, and Utilities. /poll posts a question with two to six options. Each person votes once, then everyone sees the percentages. /help lists the commands. /thread drops a contact's recent SMS conversation into the room, with a link that opens the full thread in Messages.
Hand off the work, not a summary from memory
The room menu can Share Contact, including notes, or Share Report. Report cards cover Campaign Performance, Messaging Analytics, Positive Inbound Replies, and Monthly Campaigns. Team Performance is for owners and admins. The Reports tab previews a report before you share it, and several of them export to CSV. Unless an owner turns on View org campaign reports, members see only campaigns they created.
Pull is how an owner copies a teammate's SMS conversation into their own inbox. Claim selected copies it. The teammate keeps their original. Other people can use Pull only if an owner enables Use pull center for them. Permissions can also set who may send, upload, create polls, or open reports, and cap attachments from 0 to 10 per message.
Mute a busy room without leaving it. Archive a group or channel when the topic is done. Search inside a room from the header when you need the earlier decision, not another mention.
The click-by-click version lives in the Team Chat guide.
Walk through it in the product
The guides cover these same workflows step by step, with the screens you will actually use.
