Team Chat
Team Chat is Statxt’s built-in chat for your own team. Message teammates one-on-one or in group rooms, mention people, run quick polls, and drop contacts, SMS threads and reports right into the conversation.
How it works
- 1
Pick a room
Start a direct message, a named group, or a #channel for an ongoing topic.
- 2
Talk in real time
Mention teammates with @, attach files, react, reply and edit.
- 3
Bring in the work
Share contacts, SMS threads and reports without leaving the chat.
- 4
Owners set access
Owners decide who can post, upload, see reports or pull conversations.
STEP 01
Open Team Chat
Click Team Chat in the main menu. The Chat tab lists every conversation you belong to, grouped into Channels, Groups and Direct Messages.
- Filter the list with All, Direct, Groups or Channels, or use Search conversations.
- Unread rooms show a red count next to their name.
- The tabs across the top are Chat, Reports, Pull and Permissions. You only see the tabs your access allows.
- The bell icon opens your Team Chat notifications, with Mark all read.
STEP 02
Start a conversation
Click New room (or the + next to Conversations). The New Conversation window has three tabs: Direct, Group and Channel.
- Direct is a private chat with one teammate. If you already have one with them, Statxt opens it instead of making a second.
- Group needs a Group Name. Channel needs a Channel Name, which is lowercased with dashes, like #spring-promo.
- Add a description if it helps people know what the room is for.
- Pick at least one teammate, then click Create. You can add more members later.
STEP 03
Write, mention and attach
Type in the box at the bottom of the room and press Enter to send. Press Shift + Enter for a new line.
- Type @ (or click the @ button) and pick a room member to mention them. They get a “mentioned you” notification.
- Click the paperclip to attach images, PDFs, Word, Excel or text files, up to 50 MB each. You can also paste an image.
- Hover a message to react with an emoji, reply to it, or copy its text.
- You can edit or delete your own messages. Edited ones show “(edited)”.
STEP 04
Run a poll or a slash command
Click Commands next to the message box, or type / to see what you can run. Commands are grouped into Insights, Contacts, Team and Utilities.
- Type /poll to open Create Poll. Add a question and 2 to 6 options, then click Post poll.
- Each person can vote once. After voting, everyone sees the percentages and vote count.
- Each command shows whether it posts instantly, needs you to pick something first, or asks you to confirm.
- Type /help to post a list of every command.
STEP 05
Share contacts, SMS threads and reports
Open the ⋮ menu at the top of a room to share a contact or a report. Use /thread to drop a contact’s SMS conversation into the chat.
- Share Contact lets you search your contacts, add an optional message, and tick Include contact notes.
- Share Report posts a report card. Pick Campaign Performance, Messaging Analytics, Positive Inbound Replies or Monthly Campaigns. Team Performance is for owners and admins.
- /thread shares the recent texts with a contact. Click the link icon to open the full conversation in Messages.
- If you shared a thread, you can remove it from the room with the X on the card.
STEP 06
Preview, export and share reports
The Reports tab is a reports center. Pick a report type on the left, set the filters, and preview the results before you share them.
- Filters change by report: a campaign, a number of days, or a month.
- Export CSV downloads Campaign performance, Positive inbound replies and Monthly campaigns reports.
- Share to room posts the report you’re looking at into any room you pick.
- Unless an owner turns on View org campaign reports, members see only campaigns they created.
STEP 07
Owners: pull conversations and set permissions
Two tabs are for workspace owners. Pull copies teammates’ SMS conversations into your own inbox. Permissions sets what each person can do in Team Chat.
- In Pull, choose a Teammate inbox (or Everyone), preview a thread, tick the ones you want, and click Claim selected.
- Claiming copies the conversation. Your teammate keeps their own copy.
- In Permissions, pick a member and flip switches like Send messages, Upload files, Create polls, Access reports and Use pull center.
- Each member shows Using role defaults or Custom override applied. You can also set an Attachment limit per message from 0 to 10.
Pro tips
Get more out of Team Chat
Use channels for topics
Make a #channel for anything ongoing, like a promotion or a location. Keep direct messages for one-on-one questions.
Mention to get attention
An @mention sends that person a notification, so they see it even if they’re in another room.
Mute busy rooms
Open the ⋮ menu and choose Mute Notifications to quiet a room without leaving it.
Hand off a lead in one step
Share the contact with notes, or drop the SMS thread with /thread, so a teammate has the full story before replying.
Search inside a room
Click the search icon in the room header to find a past message.
Archive what’s done
When a group or channel has run its course, choose Archive Room from the ⋮ menu to hide it from the list.
Common questions
Who can use Team Chat?
Everyone in your Statxt workspace. Viewers can read but can’t post by default. Owners can change what each person can do on the Permissions tab.
What’s the difference between a group and a channel?
Both are named rooms with the members you choose. A channel name is shown with # and written in lowercase with dashes, which suits ongoing topics. A group has a plain name, like Front Desk Team.
Does pulling a conversation take it away from my teammate?
No. Claim selected copies the conversation into your inbox. The original stays with your teammate. Pull is on for owners, and other people can use it only if an owner turns on Use pull center for them.
Can I change or remove a message after sending it?
Yes, for your own messages. Hover the message, open the ⋯ menu, and choose Edit or Delete. Edited messages are marked “(edited)”.
