Picture Messages (MMS)
Send photos with your texts. Attach images to a one-to-one conversation in Messages, or to a whole campaign in Text Blaster. Recipients see the picture right in their thread.
How it works
- 1
Attach
Pick one or more images, or search for a GIF.
- 2
Add text
Write a message to go with the picture, or send the image on its own.
- 3
Send as MMS
Any message with an image goes out as an MMS (a picture message).
- 4
Billed flat
Each picture message uses 1.5 credits, however long the text is.
STEP 01
Attach an image in a conversation
Open Messages and pick a conversation. Click the image button to the left of the message box and choose one or more pictures from your computer.
- Use JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP images.
- Each file can be up to 10 MB.
- Selected images show as thumbnails above the message box. Click the × on one to remove it.
STEP 02
Or add a GIF
Click GIF inside the message box to search for an animated GIF. Pick one and it’s added to the message, just like a photo.
- Type in Search GIFs… to find something specific.
- You can mix GIFs and your own images in the same message.
- A message with a GIF is still a picture message and is billed the same way.
STEP 03
Write your text and send
Text is optional. Add a short message to go with the image, or send the picture on its own. Press Enter or click send.
- You’ll see “Uploading attachment…” while the image uploads.
- Merge fields like {first_name} don’t fill in for one-to-one messages. They send exactly as typed.
- If you’re out of credits, the message isn’t sent and Statxt prompts you to add more.
STEP 04
Add images to a Text Blaster campaign
In Campaigns → Text Blaster, write your message as usual. Below the message box, the Media attachments (MMS) panel lets you add pictures to the whole campaign.
- Click Add image and choose one or more pictures.
- The panel shows how many images your sending line allows, up to 10.
- Every recipient gets the same images. Merge fields in the text still personalize each send.
- Remove an image with the × next to its thumbnail.
STEP 05
Budget your credits, then send
Choose your contact groups, then pick Send Now or Schedule Later, the same as any campaign. Before you send, work out the cost: recipients × 1.5 credits.
- Each picture message uses 1.5 credits, no matter how many images or how much text it has.
- Plain text messages (SMS) use 1 credit per segment, for comparison.
- Statxt won’t start a campaign your credits can’t cover.
- Consent, opt-out and DNC rules apply to picture messages the same way they do to texts.
Pro tips
Get more out of Picture Messages
Price is per message, not per image
A picture message costs 1.5 credits whether it has one image or several, and whether the text is short or long.
Long text can cost less as MMS
A plain text that runs to three segments uses 3 credits. The same words with an image attached use 1.5.
Stick to common formats
Save images as JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP before you upload. Other file types are rejected.
Keep files small
Each image can be up to 10 MB, but smaller files upload faster and are easier to view on a phone.
Personalize in Text Blaster
Merge fields like {first_name} only fill in for campaigns. In a one-to-one conversation, type the name yourself.
Same rules as SMS
Only text people who agreed to hear from you, and include opt-out language like “Reply STOP to opt out” in campaigns.
