How-to guide · Messaging
Quick Chat
Quick chat lines up everyone waiting on a reply from you, newest first. Answer one and the next is already open, with a draft in your voice ready to send.
How it works
- 1
Open
Click the Messages title in your inbox, or press Q.
- 2
Answer
Send the draft or write your own. The next person opens on its own.
- 3
Skip
A thank-you doesn't need a reply. ⌘E clears it and keeps the line moving.
- 4
Done
All caught up shows everyone you got through.
STEP 01
Open Quick chat
The Messages title at the top of your inbox is the switch. Click it again, or press Esc, to go back.
- Hover the title and it flips to Quick chat. Click it, or press Q anywhere in the inbox.
- The amber number is how many people are waiting on a reply from you.
STEP 02
Read the card
Each card is one person. Their latest messages are on the card, so you can answer without opening the thread.
- Who you're answering: name, tags and number. Open in inbox shows the whole conversation.
- Waiting 2h is how long since their last text. The newest texts come first.
- The thread shows their latest messages, newest at the bottom.
- The bar and 4 of 12 show where you are in the line.
STEP 03
Reply in your voice
The reply box is ready as soon as the card opens, with a draft in your voice already started.
- Quick replies are your most common answers. Click one, or press ⌥1–3 (Alt+1–3 on Windows), to put it in the box. Edit it if you like, then send.
- Start typing and gray text finishes it the way you write. Press Tab to keep it.
- Send & next (Enter) sends now and opens the next person. Shift+Enter adds a new line.
STEP 04
Skip, archive, DNC or undo
Not every text needs an answer. These buttons sit next to Send.
- Archive (⌘⇧A / Ctrl+Shift+A) moves the conversation to Archived. It leaves the active inbox, and you can open it again from the Archived filter.
- Skip — no reply (⌘E / Ctrl+E) marks it replied and sends nothing. Good for a “thanks”.
- DNC (⌘D / Ctrl+D) adds them to Do Not Contact. Press it twice: the first press turns it red to confirm.
- Undo (⌘Z / Ctrl+Z) brings back the last skip, archive, snooze, or DNC.
STEP 05
Templates and snooze
Answer with something you saved, or put a conversation away until a better time.
- Type / in the reply box, or click Templates, to pick from your saved quick replies and templates. Keep typing to filter, use ↑↓, and press Enter to fill the box. Names like {first_name} are filled in for you.
- Snooze (the clock at the top of the card, or ⌘S / Ctrl+S) hides this person from Quick chat until a time you pick: in 1 hour, 3 hours, tomorrow morning, next week, or your own. Press 1–4 to choose. If they text you before then, they come back right away.
STEP 06
Later or exit
The hint bar under the card lists every shortcut, so you never have to leave the keyboard.
- Later (⌘J / Ctrl+J) moves this person to the end of the line.
- Exit (Esc) goes back to the inbox. Anyone you didn't answer stays in the line.
STEP 07
Blocked words
Quick chat checks your reply against the same word lists as the rest of Statxt, as you type.
- Words you can't send turn red, with a note under the box.
- Send & next stays off until you rewrite them.
STEP 08
Up next, Done and All caught up
On a wide screen, Done sits on the left of the card and Up next on the right.
- Done lists who you've handled this session: sent, skipped, archived or DNC.
- Up next is who's after this one, with how long each has waited.
- When nobody is left, All caught up shows what you got through. Back to inbox closes Quick chat.

Pro tips
Get more out of Quick Chat
Stay on the keyboard
The reply box stays focused, and every action has a shortcut. Check the hint bar under the card.
Skip the thank-yous
A “thanks!” doesn't need a reply. ⌘E clears it and keeps the line moving.
Only your typing teaches your voice
Drafts learn from texts you type yourself. Drafts you send unchanged don't count.
Save the hard ones for later
⌘J moves someone to the end of the line, so the quick replies go out first.
Common questions
Who is in the line?
People whose last text to you hasn't been answered, in conversations you own or that are assigned to you. Opt-outs and DNC contacts are left out.

Why can't I find Quick chat?
Open Messages and click the Messages title at the top of your inbox, or press Q.
