How-to guide · Messaging
Scheduled send
Write a reply now and have it go out later: first thing tomorrow, after the weekend, or at a time you pick. It works from any conversation and from Bulk actions, and it holds off if the person texts you first.
How it works
- 1
Write
Type your reply like you always do.
- 2
Schedule
Click the arrow on Send and pick a time.
- 3
Wait
It sits in the thread with a countdown until it sends.
- 4
Sent
It goes out from the same number, as your reply.
STEP 01
Schedule a reply
The Send button has a small arrow on its right. Send still sends right away; the arrow sends later.
- Type your reply, then click the arrow on the Send button (or press ⌘⇧Enter / Ctrl+Shift+Enter).
- Pick In 1 hour, Tomorrow morning, Tomorrow afternoon, Monday morning, or Pick date & time…. One click schedules it.
- Don't send if they reply first is on by default. Turn it off if the text should go out no matter what.
STEP 02
Pick your own day and time
Pick date & time… opens a small calendar. Days that have passed are greyed out.
- Choose the day, set the time, then click the Schedule button. It spells out the day and time so you can check it.
- If the time is before 8 AM or after 9 PM where the contact lives, a moon and a note warn you. Quiet hours may hold the text.
STEP 03
It waits in the thread
A scheduled reply sits under the latest message until it sends. Nothing else in the thread changes.
- The dashed mint outline means it hasn't gone out yet.
- Underneath, the send time and a countdown take turns, with a soft glow so you notice it.
- Hover the message (or tap it on a phone) for Send now, Edit and Cancel.
STEP 04
Edit it or change the time
Edit puts the text back in your reply box. The scheduled copy fades while you work on it.
- The chip above the box shows you're editing and when it will send. Click × to stop editing without changes.
- The check mark saves your changes and keeps the time. The arrow next to it picks a new time.
STEP 05
If they text you first
Their new message might change your answer, so a scheduled reply doesn't go out over it.
- The reply comes back into your box with a note saying it wasn't sent. Edit it, send it, or schedule it again.
STEP 06
Schedule one reply to several people
Select up to 10 conversations, write one reply, and pick when it goes out.
- Turn on bulk select, check the conversations, then open Bulk actions → Schedule bulk reply….
- Under When, Schedule is picked. Choose a time, or Pick date & time….
- Send in each contact's time sends at 8:00 AM where each person is, using their contact record or area code.
- Continue to preview shows each person's send time, and anyone who will be skipped and why. Then click Schedule.
STEP 07
See everything that's scheduled
You don't have to open each thread to know what's waiting to go out.
- The Scheduled chip above your list shows only conversations with a reply waiting.
- In the list, a mint clock and the send time replace the last message.

Pro tips
Get more out of Scheduled send
Answer late messages in the morning
Got a text at 10 PM? Write the answer while it's fresh and schedule it for Tomorrow morning.
Changed your mind?
Cancel puts the text back in your reply box, so nothing you wrote is lost.
Leave the switch on
Don't send if they reply first keeps an old answer from landing on top of a new question.
Bulk has a Scheduled view
Select some conversations and Bulk actions shows Cancel scheduled when any of them have a reply waiting.
Common questions
Which number does it send from?
The number that was picked in the reply box when you scheduled it, the same one a normal reply would use.
What if they opt out before it sends?
Opt-outs, DNC and your workspace's rules are checked again right before it sends. If it can't go out, the thread shows Not sent with the reason and a Retry.
Can a conversation have more than one scheduled reply?
One at a time. Edit the one that's waiting, or cancel it and schedule a new one.
Whose time zone is it in?
Times in a conversation are your own. Bulk replies can use each contact's time zone instead, from their contact record or phone number's area code, or yours if neither is known.
Does it count as my reply?
Yes. When it sends, it clears Unreplied just like a text you send yourself.
Do I need to keep the tab open?
No. Scheduled replies send from our servers, even if you close the browser.

Keeping a text inbox moving
Search, the right-click menu, and bulk reply cover the day-to-day of Messages. A few of those actions also write to the DNC list, so they are not just filing.
