Security & Two-Factor Sign-In
Protect your Statxt account with two-factor authentication, a second check after your password. Set it up in Settings → Security, where you can also change your password and sign out.
How it works
- 1
Add a method
Passkey, email code, SMS code or an authenticator app.
- 2
Verify it
Confirm a six-digit code, or approve the passkey on your device.
- 3
Sign in safely
Statxt asks you to verify it’s you before continuing.
- 4
Keep a backup
Enroll more than one method so you’re never locked out.
STEP 01
Open Settings → Security
The Two-Factor Authentication card shows whether it’s Enabled or Disabled for your account, and lists the four methods you can use.
- Two-factor authentication (also called MFA) means signing in takes your password plus a second check.
- Click Add next to a method to set it up. Click Remove to take one away.
- If your organization requires MFA, the card tells you. Keep at least one usable method enrolled.
STEP 02
Set up an authenticator app
An authenticator app on your phone creates a fresh six-digit code every 30 seconds. Click Add next to Authenticator app to start.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app.
- Can’t scan? Type the Manual key shown under the QR code into the app instead.
- Enter the app’s six-digit code under Authenticator Code, then click Verify & Enable MFA.
STEP 03
Or use an SMS or email code
Prefer a code sent to you? Add SMS code or Email code. Both send a six-digit code that you type in to confirm.
- SMS code needs a US mobile number. Enter it, click Send SMS code, then type the code and click Verify SMS code.
- Email code goes to your confirmed email address. Click Send code, then Verify email code.
- Codes are six digits. You can add more than one method.
STEP 04
Add a passkey
A passkey lets you confirm it’s you with your device’s Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello or a security key, with no code to type.
- Click Add next to Passkey. Give it a name, like the device it lives on, then click Create passkey.
- Follow your device’s prompt to finish.
- Rename or remove a passkey from the list under the Passkey row.
- Don’t rely on passkeys alone. Keep email, SMS or an authenticator app enrolled so you can still sign in on mobile.
STEP 05
Sign in with your second step
When two-factor authentication is on, Statxt shows a Multi-Factor Authentication window after your password: “Verify it is you before continuing.”
- Pick a method from the list. Your enrolled email and phone appear partly hidden.
- Enter the six-digit code, or complete the passkey prompt on your device.
- Didn’t get an email code? Click Resend code.
STEP 06
Change your password and sign out
Further down Settings → Security you can update your password, reset it by email, and end your current session.
- Enter a New Password twice and click Update Password. Current Password is only needed if Statxt asks you to sign in again.
- Reset Password emails you a temporary password and signs you out. Sign back in and set a new one here.
- Active Sessions shows when your current session expires. Click Sign out to end it.
- Linked Sign-In Methods lists outside accounts, like Apple, that you can sign in with.
Pro tips
Get more out of Security & 2FA
Add a backup method
Enroll two methods, like an authenticator app and email code, so losing one device doesn’t lock you out.
Passkeys need a partner
If passkeys are your only method, Statxt warns you. Add email, SMS or an authenticator app for mobile sign-in.
Name passkeys clearly
Use names like Work laptop or Office key so you know which one to remove if a device is lost.
Removing needs a fresh check
Statxt may ask you to verify again before removing a method. That stops someone at an unlocked computer from turning it off.
Required by your organization?
If MFA is required and you haven’t set it up, Statxt prompts you to add a method. You can’t remove your last one while it’s required.
Using a shared computer
Click Sign out under Active Sessions when you’re done so the next person can’t get into your account.
