How-to guide · Getting started
10DLC Registration
US carriers require every business that texts from a regular 10-digit phone number to register first. This is called 10DLC. You fill in one intake form in Statxt, and our team submits your registration to the carriers.
How it works
- 1
Your business
Legal name, tax ID, address and a contact person carriers can verify.
- 2
Your messages
What you text, who receives it, and a few sample messages.
- 3
Consent details
How people opt in, your STOP and HELP replies, and policy links.
- 4
We file it
Statxt submits your registration. Carriers review it before approval.
STEP 01
Find the intake form
New workspaces get a 10DLC Package step during onboarding. Once you're in the app, the full intake lives under Compliance → 10DLC.
- Onboarding runs Business Profile, 10DLC Package, Compliance Review, Internal Approval, then Plan Activation.
- The onboarding version asks for your contact, business, address and website in four short steps.
- Only owners and admins can edit the intake. Other roles see it hidden.
STEP 02
Enter your business details
Carriers use these details to verify your business, so enter them exactly as they appear on your official records.
- Legal business name is your registered entity name. Add a DBA only if customers know you by a different name.
- EIN / Tax ID is your 9-digit federal tax number, like 12-3456789. It's stored encrypted.
- Pick your 10DLC entity type: Private profit, Public profit, Non-profit, Government or Sole proprietor.
- Your website must be publicly reachable. Carriers check it during review.
STEP 03
Describe your messaging program
Tell carriers what you'll send and to whom. Your samples should look like the texts you'll really send.
- Use case options include Appointment reminders, Customer support, Order updates, Marketing promotions, Account notifications and Two-factor authentication.
- Program description explains what you send and who receives it.
- Message sample 1 is required. Samples 2 and 3 are optional.
- Pick from Message templates to auto-fill samples, then edit them to match your business.
STEP 04
Add consent and policy details
Carriers want to see how people agree to get your texts and how they can stop them.
- Opt-in method describes where consent happens: a web form checkbox, paper form, SMS keyword or checkout opt-in.
- Add an Opt-in URL if people sign up online.
- Privacy policy URL and Terms URL are required unless you choose No website.
- Opt-out message and Help message start as “Reply STOP to opt out.” and “Reply HELP for help.”
STEP 05
No website? Let Statxt host one
Carriers expect a public website. If you don't have one, click No website next to Website URL and Statxt will build and host one for your registration.
- A one-time No website fee applies. The form shows the amount before you agree.
- Statxt builds the site from the business details in your intake.
- Website, Privacy policy and Terms URLs are no longer required.
- Tick the hosted website terms box. After you submit, you're taken to a secure checkout to pay.
STEP 06
Save, agree and submit
Save your progress as you go. When everything is filled in, agree to the terms and send it to our team.
- Click Save Draft first, then Submit for Review.
- Submitting requires the Statxt Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy checkbox.
- Missing required fields are highlighted. Fix them and submit again.
- After you submit, the intake is locked while it's reviewed. If changes are needed, our team will ask you.
STEP 07
Track your status
The status at the top of the intake shows where your registration stands. During onboarding, the progress steps update as review moves along.
- Statuses are Draft, Submitted, In Review, Approved and Rejected.
- In onboarding, Compliance Review shows a Check for updates button.
- Carrier review usually takes a few business days.
- In onboarding, you'll get an email when plan checkout unlocks.

Write real samples
Sample messages should look like what you'll actually send, including opt-out language like “Reply STOP to opt out.”
Publish your policies
Your privacy policy and terms pages should be live and public before you submit.
Keep STOP and HELP
Leave the default opt-out and help replies in place unless you have a reason to change them.

Common questions
What is 10DLC?
10DLC stands for 10-digit long code: a regular local phone number used for business texting. US carriers require businesses to register their brand and messaging campaign through The Campaign Registry before texting at volume.
Who can fill in the 10DLC intake?
Workspace owners and admins. Other roles can open the Compliance page if they have access, but the intake details are hidden from them.
I don't have a website. Can I still register?
Yes. Click No website and Statxt will build and host a site for your registration using your intake details. There's a one-time fee, shown in the form and paid at checkout after you submit.
Can I change my details after submitting?
Not from the form. It locks after submission while it's reviewed. If anything needs to change, our team will ask you for the update.
