How-to guide · Getting started
Send a Campaign
Text Blaster sends one message to every contact in the groups you choose. Name the campaign, pick your groups, write the text, check the preview, then send it now or schedule it for later.
How it works
- 1
Pick groups
Choose one or more contact groups. DNC contacts are filtered out for you.
- 2
Write once
Merge fields like {first_name} personalize every text.
- 3
Check it
See the cost, the segment count and real personalized previews.
- 4
Send or schedule
Launch now or pick a time, then follow it in All Campaigns.
STEP 01
Open Text Blaster and name the campaign
Go to Campaigns. Text Blaster is the first tab and opens by default. Start by giving the campaign a name.
- Campaign Name is optional. Leave it empty and Statxt names it with the date and time.
- Pick a name you’ll recognize in the All Campaigns list later.
- Your draft is kept while you move around the app in the same browser tab.
STEP 02
Choose your recipients
Open Select contact groups and tick the groups you want to reach. Each group shows its size and how often it’s been blasted.
- A contact in more than one selected group gets the text once.
- Contacts on your DNC (do not contact) list are filtered out, and the header shows how many. The count also reflects the audience safety gate below.
- Need a new list? Create a group right in the dropdown, or use Upload leads to import a file.
- No replies builds a new group from people who never answered earlier campaigns.
STEP 03
Write the message
Type your text in the Message box. Click a merge field chip to drop it in at your cursor. It fills in with each contact’s details when the text is sent.
- The counter shows characters out of 160 and how many segments the text uses. Each segment costs one credit per recipient.
- If your workspace adds an opt-out footer (“Reply STOP to opt out.” by default), it’s added for you and counted in the segments. Don’t type it twice.
- Words that break compliance rules are highlighted in the box, with a short label above it.
- A warning appears if the text has no personalization. Adding {first_name} or {brand_name} helps it read less like a mass text.
STEP 04
Preview the cost and the personalized texts
The Message Preview panel shows how the text looks, how many people get it, the estimated cost and a rough delivery time. Click Preview all to see the real personalized texts for contacts in your groups.
- Est. Cost is in credits: recipients times segments.
- Preview all shows up to 100 of the longest personalized texts, so you can spot any that grow past one segment.
- Tick Multi-segment only to show just the texts that will cost more than one credit each.
STEP 05
Check the audience safety gate
Before you send, Statxt checks whether anyone in the audience was texted recently and lets you decide what to do about them.
- By default it looks back 24 hours across anyone on your team. Use the settings button on the panel to change that.
- Exclude them is selected by default. Continue anyway texts everyone who isn’t on DNC.
- Tick Exclude contacts with an existing conversation to skip people already in a two-way thread with your team.
STEP 06
Send now or schedule it
In the Schedule panel, pick Send Now or Schedule Later. Then click the big button at the bottom: Blast Message to send now, or Schedule Campaign.
- Scheduled campaigns need a date and time at least 5 minutes from now. A countdown shows when it will launch.
- If the text has merge fields, you confirm that personalized texts may run longer before anything goes out.
- Statxt runs a compliance check on the copy when you click. If it finds a problem, it tells you what to fix.
- If your credit balance is too low, you’ll see how many more credits you need and a Buy credits now button.
STEP 07
Follow it in All Campaigns
After you send or schedule, Statxt switches to the All Campaigns tab. Click any campaign to open its details.
- A short note lists anyone left out, such as DNC or recently texted contacts.
- Filter the list by status and search by name.
- Pause a campaign while it’s sending, cancel it while it’s scheduled or sending, and resume a paused one. Texts already sent can’t be recalled.
- Details show recipients, delivered, sent segments and STOP replies.
Pro tips
Get more out of Send a Campaign
Preview before big sends
Preview all shows the longest personalized texts first. A long name or company can push a text into a second segment.
Let the footer do its job
If your workspace appends an opt-out footer, leave it out of your copy. Statxt warns you when it spots a duplicate.
Use groups for audiences
Groups decide who gets the text. Add tags only labels the contacts whose text was accepted, so you can filter them later.
Test two versions
Click AB in the Message section to split your audience between two messages. See the A/B testing guide for the full walkthrough.
Track link clicks
Paste an https link and Statxt can swap it for per-recipient short links so you can see who clicked. The Tracking links guide covers the details.
Follow up with non-responders
Use No replies in Recipients to build a group of people who never answered earlier campaigns, then send them a new message.
Common questions
How much does a campaign cost?
Each SMS segment costs one credit per recipient. Text Blaster shows the estimated total in Est. Cost before you send, including any opt-out footer.
Who is left out of a campaign?
Contacts on your DNC list are always filtered out. The audience safety gate also excludes people your team texted recently, unless you choose Continue anyway.
How far ahead can I schedule?
Pick any future date and time at least 5 minutes from now. Until it launches, you can cancel it or send it right away from All Campaigns.
Can I stop a campaign after it starts?
Yes. Open it in All Campaigns and click Pause or Cancel. Texts that were already sent can’t be recalled.
